About me

I’m Ryan, The Nerdy Baker, an east coast transplant making my home in Minneapolis. I’m a self-taught baker with a passion for cookies, pastry, bread, and cakes. I strive to create delicious baked goods that excite, surprise, warm, and comfort folx in my life - my friends and family, and my customers too.

I’ve had a love of baking since I was a child, learning from my mother (who had a cake decorating and chocolate-making business that turned into owning a chocolate and candy store for over a decade), my grandmothers and aunt, and lots of reading, TV cooking shows, and experimenting. I can talk for HOURS about the science of baking, the chemistry of flour and sugar, and the nuances of chocolate.

I officially started The Nerdy Baker in 2018.

I offer baked goods containing ingredients that may be food allergens for some people, and many allergen-free products. While I carefully adhere to standard food safety protocols, the Nerdy Baker is not a certified gluten-free or allergen-free bakery. Baked goods are made in a home kitchen that also handles nuts, wheat, milk, eggs, soy, and other common allergens. If you have a serious allergy, please take this into consideration before placing an order, and let me know right away if you need items packaged separately.
